For the first time since 2014 Lady Gaga mentioned ARTPOP ACT II and its existence in two heartfelt tweets! This comes after an April fools joke by ARTPOP producer DJ White Shadow, a following petition to release ACT II with around 40K signatures (stood April 2021) made by fans and an ARTPOP buying party under the hashtag #buyARTPOPoniTunes.
The petition to #buyARTPOPoniTunes for a volume II has inspired such a tremendous warmth in my heart. Making this album was like heart surgery, I was desperate, in pain, and poured my heart into electronic music that slammed harder than any drug I could find.Lady Gaga
I fell apart after I released this album. Thank you for celebrating something that once felt like destruction. We always believed it was ahead of its time. Years later turns out, sometimes, artists know. And so do little monsters. Paws upLady Gaga
While the petition and the hashtag was trending, ARTPOP jumped up to #1 on the “US iTunes Pop Album Charts” and #3 on the “US iTunes Top Albums” chart and the number of signatures for ACT II is continuing to grow, with DJ White Shadow showing his support:
Though we don’t know if this means that Gaga will release ARTPOP ACT II, this has already been more then a lot of fans wanted. In the two, at the same time heartbreaking but also heartwarming, tweets, Gaga, on one part, acknowledged the existence of the second volume but also shares how she truly felt about it back in time. If the second part of the most controversial album in the fandom will ever be released will probably stay unknown. Until then here is everything we know about ARTPOP ACT II:
In October 2012 Lady Gaga mentioned that she thinks off making a 2 Part Project for ARTPOP, one being more commercial, the other more experimental. Gaga later said that there would be “lots of songs for Act II”. This was in October 2013. Only a few weeks later she mentioned it again saying she would love to include both acts in her artRAVE Tour. With over 90 songs produced for ARTPOP, Gaga even went further saying there could be more the two acts and that the second volume would be completed. The last time Gaga mentioned ACT II was in 2014 saying that “there is a strong possibility” of releasing the B-Side.
After a long break and silence around the project, DJ White Shadow started the rumours again after calling LG6 “ARTPOPs little sister”. Fans directly jumped to the conclusion that Lady Gaga’s 6th studio album would be ARTPOP ACT II. DJ White Shadow later confirmed, that it would be all new songs.
So let’s continue with the emotional shit. 4 years ago I put out a record called ARTPOP with @ladygaga. I could write a book about it, maybe one day I will. I lost a best friend and manager, LG lost her entire support team, and we were all alone. I am so grateful for this record because it taught me a lot. I made some friends that have changed my life forever in the halls where this record was recorded, whom I love so incredibly deeply. For all her flaws, strangeness and beauty, I thank you ARTPOP for the lessons learned and the gifts you gave. Happy 4th Birthday. I can’t wait to introduce you to your little sister. #LG6DJ White Shadow
However on April Fool’s day 2021, DJ White Shadow allowed himself to mention ARTPOP ACT II again, in the form of releasing the anticipated song “TEA”
JUST ANNOUNCED: @ladygaga and I will be releasing Tea as an NFT through YElLOWHEART @nfttrackerDJ White Shadow
This joke left fans angry but also hungry for more, so DJ White Shadow pushed fans to fight for what they want and start a petition. Only one day after, on April 2nd, exactly this would happen. The Petition would call Gaga and her team to release the anticipated B-Side and blew up on the internet, in a matter of a few days the petition already reached about 40K signatures. This led to White Shadow texting Gaga about the matter.
And I sent LG a text. I don’t feel right about sharing our private talks but I promise you all I did. 🙂DJ White Shadow
Today Lady Gaga herself tweeted about the matter and makes it the first time since 2014 that Gaga mentions the infamous B-Side of her ARTPOP album. Some songs of B-Side (or that were part of the writing and production process) were “Brooklyn Nights”, “Nothing On (But The Radio)”, “Cake Like Lady Gaga”, “Temple”, “Tea”, “PARTYNAUSEOUS”, “Sire” and “Ratchet”.
Some of those songs were actually used in some form by Gaga. During the artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball tour, Gaga included “Cake Like Lady Gaga” and “PARTYNAUSEOUS” a few times. The Instrumental of “Ratchet” was also used during the tour and Gaga also sang her song “Sire” to fans who went backstage.
If Gaga will ever release ARTPOP ACT II will probably stay a mystery for a certain time, but for a lot of fans this little message send today is more then enough and surely is a small part of Lady Gaga history.
